Jakarta –
Indonesian men’s doubles coach Herry Iman Pierngadi revealed the changes in the line-up, including the presence of a partner Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Bagas Maulanaagainst Thailand in Group A Thomas Cup 2022 is part of the strategy.
Indonesia will face Thailand in the advanced group stage which will take place Monday (9/5/2022) at 19.00 WIB.
Against the White Elephant team, Red and White changed their line-up, especially in doubles. Exist Kevin which is paired with Baggage — with both of them playing with other couples.
Meanwhile, the men’s singles number did not experience any difference. It’s still the same as when Indonesia played Singapore in the first match of the 2022 Thomas Cup on Sunday (8/5) yesterday.

“We lowered a different formation from yesterday against Singapore. It was all for the sake of strategy,” said Herry in information received by PBSI. detikSport.
Herry believes that the players need to adapt to the windy conditions on the Impact Arena. This is because the wind conditions in the arena when used to compete are different from those during practice.
Moreover, the players were still carried away by the strong wind when they fought in the Asian Championships in Manila last week.
“Yesterday during practice, the air conditioner was not fully activated. So players need and must be able to adapt to the wind when competing. Therefore, all players need to compete,” Herry explained.
“Therefore, the seven players that I brought with me I had to play all of them so they could quickly adapt and feel the atmosphere of the arena well,” he added.
A number of names are rested, Kevin/Bagas are paired
For that purpose, Herry finally rested Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri who had already appeared against Singapore.
Herry then rotated them by lowering Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo who will get a new partner together Bagas MaulanaFikri’s real partner, when meeting with the host tonight.

“Kevin/Bagas also often practice together. Kevin playing up front as a playmaker needs to be supported by killer-type players from the back line and that’s owned by Bagas,” said Herry.
“By randomizing, our strength is not easy for the opponent to read. In addition, we can also have a lot of compositions and pair formations. This also makes the opponent more confused every time they meet us,” he emphasized.
