Cult property: House from “Kevin – Alone in New York” is for sale – The McCallisters from the “Kevin – Alone …” film series obviously don’t lack money. The famous family estate from the film “Home Alone” at 671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, Illinois, already has an estimated market value of $2.4 million. But even that is comparatively cheap compared to the much smaller New York townhouse shown in the second part.
The building on West 95th Street known from “Kevin – Alone in New York” is worth 6.7 million US dollars – around 6 million euros.
At least this is according to the “Daily Mail” is the currently advertised selling price for the property steeped in film history, which, according to the plot, belongs to the family uncle Rob, who invited the McCallisters to Paris in the first part.
Located on the Upper West Side, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue, the New York townhouse offers four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.
Well-heeled viewers should know, however, that while the real townhouse has the same address as the house in the film, the actual filming took place on Brownstone Street, part of the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles.
Although the real house is never seen in the film, according to real estate agent Nicole Kats, film fans regularly make pilgrimages to the Manhattan address to take photos. The current owners would even regularly receive letters addressed to the fictional film characters.
The house is characterized by its impressive architecture, including meter-high ceilings, a wide foyer and a magnificent staircase.
Moldings, walnut floors and bay windows complete the elegant appearance. Other amenities include a living and dining room, each with French doors, and a garden – a rarity in Manhattan.
The luxury home was originally listed on the real estate platform “Zillow” in March for $7.65 million (approximately 6.9 million euros). Within a month, the price dropped to $7.15 million (approximately 6.4 million euros), and as of June the asking price is $6 million.
