Kessie and Christensen can leave the club for free if they are not registered in time

The club has until the end of the transfer window (31 August) to register players with La Liga, but Saturday’s date is marked in red

New purchases Andreas Christensen e Franck Kessie could leave the Barcelona free of charge if they are not registered before the debut on Saturday in Liga against the Vallecano Ray. The two players, who arrived with free transfers in early summer, respectively since Chelsea and from Milan, three days before the start of the new season, have not yet been registered in the Spanish league. Therefore, according to ESPNif they are not registered before Barça’s opening match against Rayo, they could both enforce a clause in the contract that authorizes them to leave for free.

Even the other summer arrivals like Robert Lewandowski, Rafinha and Jules Koundeand the contractual renewals of Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembele have not yet been registered by Liga, however, the situations of Christensen and Kessie are slightly different. Since the latter joined the Blaugrana for free, if they decide, they would have the right to leave, always free of charge, before the closing of the market window.

At the moment there is no indication that it will come to this point and the president John Laporta continues to convey optimism that all seven players will be signed on time, but the club is stalling and the start of the season is near. At worst, he writes ESPNil Barcelona could talk to the players’ agents to avoid such an extreme outcome, and take additional time as the deadline to register purchases, according to the rules of the Ligais at the end of the month.

The Catalan club has spent more 150 million euros this summer and has collected over 600 million euros selling 25% of national television rights for 25 annie a share of the 24.5% from Barça Studios. However, it seems that the incoming money is not yet enough to be able to record all purchases and renewals of contracts and this would depend on the cost and the combination of agreements. Laporta is looking to sell an additional 24.5% stake in Barça Studios and continues to negotiate salary adjustments with other players, including Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique. Also last summer, Pique’s salary reduction allowed the membership of Memphis Depay ed Eric Garcia on the eve of the season, while similar actions by Busquets and Alba they allowed Sergio Aguero to be registered in the championship before the transfer window closes.

Given that the financial problems of the blaugrana have been well documented, it is plausible to think that the agents of the other players involved have also negotiated clauses to safeguard their clients, such as Kessie and Christensen. The Barcelona has time until the transfer window closes (August 31) to card, but it might have some disgruntled players and agents if things aren’t sorted out sooner.
