“Kertajati Airport Ready to Serve Umrah, Pilgrimage and Regular Flights”

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Three ministers of President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi, namely the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi together with the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono and the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy reviewed the readiness of Kertajati Airport, Majalengka which will soon serve Umrah flights, pilgrimage, as well as regular.

Budi Karya explained, the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) assigned PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) to help ensure the readiness of Kertajati Airport services.

“AP II already has experience working with GMR India, as was done at Kualanamu Airport. Kertajati Airport will become an airport hub in West java. The location is also close to Patimban Port which will be as big as Tanjung Priok Port. So this is very strategic,” said Budi Karya in a written statement on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Kertajati Airport will soon serve flights charter Umrah route Kertajati (KJT) – Medinah (MED) on April 15, 2023. The service uses Lion Air flight code JT-068 with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Then on May 9 2023, following the airline Garuda Indonesia will also serve Umrah flights from Kertajati.

Then on May 17 2023, AirAsia is scheduled to serve regular flights with the first route Kertajati – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Furthermore, in June-August 2023, it will serve haj flights after being designated as one of the Hajj embarkation and debarkation airports by the Ministry of Religion.
