The award is decided by fifty football experts, and György Szöllősi, editor-in-chief of Nemzeti Sport and president of the Association of Hungarian Sports Journalists, votes for Hungary. Professionals can vote for five players who receive 10, 7, 5, 3 and one point.
Fans can also choose their favorite from the list published by Tuttosport, by clicking here you can vote.
Before Kerkez, two Hungarian footballers were on the list: first in 2009, the then-playing Bari Koman Vladimir – they did not make public the number of votes, only that 26 of the 40 candidates at the time received votes, including him. Then in 2020 Dominik Szoboszlai got a place in the ranking: the captain of the national team reached 8th place while still a player of Red Bull Salzburg.
