“Once again, we will hope for pieces of resources that will be provided to us simply so that we have a resource.” This is what Milen Keremedchiev, former deputy minister of foreign affairs and economy, told BNR.
“This will not be the best for our country. It’s not the first time we make this political mistake and show weakness in front of the European institutions,” he said in the program “Before All” about the Bulgarian candidacy for European Commissioner.
Bulgaria is the only country that responded to Ursula von der Leyen’s request to submit two candidacies, he emphasized. According to him, the other countries have declared important departments for them and have proposed one candidate each.
“Bulgaria did the exact opposite. First, leave it to Mrs. Von der Leyen to make the choices we have to make as a country. And secondly, we put on a face, and we are still waiting to see what kind of spring we will get. That is, we put on a penkiller, and whatever spring is given us, we must prepare this man as quickly as possible for the repast.’
This policy is an example of the lack of a stable foreign policy and the lack of priorities, Keremedchiev stressed.
“In Bulgarian, we started to melt ourselves. For the scandal with the Bulgarian passports, Mrs. Zaharieva has not been proven guilty. We’re dealing with spoofs. Bulgarian MEPs took up this topic and strengthened its importance, commented Milen Keremedchiev. He recalled the two candidacies of our country for UN Secretary General some time ago.
“Now, once again, we’re trying to shoot ourselves in the foot, and it’s going to make it harder for our candidate to get a hearing.”
