Moving a hospital is no small feat, but moving two… it requires unprecedented logistics. This change of life is eagerly awaited by residents but also staff and cannot be improvised. The agents of Riantec and Port-Louis never crossed paths, they will now evolve within a single place.
“We created working groups to define our organization, determine everyone’s schedules, etc. The teams from the nursing home, the largest department, met, discussed their current practices and we will keep the best ”, presents Harmony Bourdon, health manager at the Riantec nursing home USLD. Agents from Port Louis came to spend a week in Riantec to get to know the residents. “It’s a lot of energy spent, we have been on this issue for months,” confide the caregivers.
A few months of adaptation to plan
While some residents feel a little stressful about moving, so do those who look after them. “Leaving your establishment, your service, is not easy for everyone. The staff are impatient but are also a little worried, ”reports the health executive.
This move is also an opportunity to make a new start for the staff. A call was made to them several months ago: “In which department do you want to work? For possible reassignments. We tried to satisfy them as best as possible, ”explains Armel Rivallan, health executive. A little apprehension swept away by the joy of having finished with the work for the staff of Riantec. “There was a period when it was a bit hard, the walls were shaking, sometimes we didn’t get along and we didn’t go out,” remembers Hélène Padellec, host.
The teams know it won’t be perfect once the last moving truck is gone. It will take time and adjustments. “We will see, once we arrive, but we are giving ourselves a few months of adaptation. We know that they will not be easy, but we can not wait ”, testifies Harmony Bourdon, reassured“ of the positive dynamic ”that she notes.
