BOYOLALI, JOGLOSEMARNEWS.COM – The Central Java Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Ahmad Luthfi ordered the location of the WKO tourist attraction to be closed. This followed the heartbreaking tragedy of the ship overturning and sinking in the waters of Kemusu, Boyolali, Saturday (15/5/2021) afternoon.

Nine people were declared missing and 6 people were found dead. Meanwhile, 11 others survived.

This statement was made by the Central Java Police Chief when he visited the location of the incident, Saturday (15/5/2021). Seeing this tragic incident, the Kapolda immediately ordered personnel to assist in the search for victims.

Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol Ahmad Luthfi through the Head of Central Java Regional Police Kombes Pol Iskandar said that due to the incident the Regional Police Chief had ordered the tourism manager of Kedung Ombo Reservoir (WKO) to close tourist sites.

This is due to findings in the field that many visitors do not apply health prokes or protocols and safety procedures. Then the capacity of visitors and boat passengers also exceeds the specified capacity.

“It is true, the Regional Police Chief has ordered the closure of the tourist sites of the Kedung Ombo Reservoir starting today. Because they do not comply with the Prokes and violate the specified visitor capacity, “he told reporters.

Kombes Pol Iskandar explained that the tour boat that overturned in the Kedung Ombo Reservoir numbered 20 passengers. Of that number, there were 11 people found safe, nine people have not been found.

“The nine passengers are still being searched by the Boyolali Police and the Central Java Police. And we are still searching for the victim, ”explained the Head of Central Java Regional Police’s Head of Humas.

Iskandar explained, the chronology of the incident began when the passengers on the tour boat were about to head for the floating shop. After circling around and then they returned and took a selfie on the boat.

Because the load was too much, continued Kabidhumas, the boat finally capsized. Of the 20 passengers, 11 of them managed to survive, but nine people drowned.

“After going around in circles, then they do selfies on the boat. Because the boat was not strong, finally the boat capsized, all the passengers fell into the water, “said Iskandar.

From the data received by the Central Java Regional Police, the nine people who disappeared and drowned, namely, Siti Mukaromah, Wilda, Niken Safitri, Tituk Mulyani, Ana, Zamzam, Jalal, Jalil and Desti.

Meanwhile, the 11 survivors were Alya, Mustakim, Suswanti, Laras, Supriyadi, Andre, Khoirunissia, Rifki Edi, Andi, Adi and Tinuk.

Head of BPBD Boyolali Regency, Bambang Sinung Harjo, said the search would continue tomorrow morning, Sunday (16/5/2021).

As of tonight, there are still 3 victims in the search. The search operation will resume tomorrow morning starting at 07.00 WIB.

“The search was stopped and tomorrow morning it will be continued at 07.00 WIB until 17.00 WIB,” he explained to reporters, Saturday (15/5/2021) night.

Regarding the chronology, Bambang said that the tragic incident occurred at 11.00 WIB. The boat carrying 20 passengers then capsized when approaching the floating shop.

The boat allegedly capsized due to overload and the passengers took selfies at the front of the boat. So that the boat lost its balance and then flipped over and overturned.

“There were 9 victims who drowned. Then 9 victims who drowned until tonight 6 victims have been successfully evacuated. There are only 3 victims left. Ask for his prayers, hopefully they will be found tomorrow, ”he explained.
