Kerana, Nikolay Vodenicharov-Niketsa and Vladimir Mihailov will blow up the Summer Theater stage with impressive musical performances and acting in the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
The work by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber debuted on stage in 1971, has been performed with great success all over the world and has the status of a true legend. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy it too – there’s a reason, the experience is worth it.
A true delight for the senses awaits you, presented by a performance of the State Opera Plovdiv with world-class choir, ballet and orchestra. In a reading by the director Veselka Kuncheva, the plot follows the relations and clashes between Judas Iscariot (the beloved artist and musician, playing the lead role in the acclaimed series “Brothers” and winner of season 11 of “Like Two Drops of Water” Vladimir Mikhailov) and Jesus (the rock singer with a fascinating stage presence Nikolay Vodenicharov-Niketsa) during Holy Week – from the entry into Jerusalem to the crucifixion. In a bleak post-apocalyptic future with clouded faith and moral collapse, disillusioned humanity searches once again for its Messiah.
Kerana plays the role of Maria Magdalena, and Konstantin Katsarov, frontman of the band “Renegat”, plays the role of Anna.
The remaining parts are performed by actor Tsveti Penyashki and soloists Mark Fowler, Vladimir Nikov, Evgeny Arabadzhiev, August Metodiev and others.

“What I see in this rock opera is not just painfully affecting music. There is a prophecy in it that we, as modern artists, are obliged to see,” says Veselka Kuncheva about the show, which explores the endless cycle of faith and denial.
