The Minister of Labor, Niki Kerameos, has a meeting with the New Democracy parliamentary group on Tuesday afternoon (24/9) in the Senate chamber of the Parliament. The purpose of the meeting is for the minister to inform the blue MPs about the portfolio she holds and the actions of the ministry.
According to sources of the parliamentary group, the meeting is not taking place because there was a mobilization following the question of the 11 blue rebels. As the same sources note, meetings with ministers have been arranged since the summer. In the coming weeks, in fact, it is expected that there will be new rounds of meetings and briefings by ministers Georgiadis, Zacharakis, Theodorikakos. The reasoning is that this contact also helps the ministers in their work, as the MPs have closer contact with society.
It was noteworthy, however, that there were quite a few empty seats in the Senate. At the meeting, the MPs who attended were not more than 50 out of a total of 156. However, parliamentary sources meaningfully said that there are no absences and the meeting is open to all blue-collar MPs.
In a statement from the Parliament’s peristyle, Niki Kerameos, explained that it is not done for relaxation and added that they always hold meetings with MPs. “Very fruitful discussions, I always sought them. We listen to the grassroots through which they convey to us the stimuli of the citizens. I personally meet constantly with MPs, many proposals come from MPs”.
