Thiruvananthapuram: Minister R Bindu said that the Higher Education Department is planning to start an Arabic language and cultural study center. The Minister said that the study center will be started in the name of Sheikh Zainuddin Makhdoom with headquarters in Ponnani. The minister announced this while inaugurating an international conference organized by the Kerala University Arabic department.
The Government of Kerala has decided to pay due respect to Sheikh Zainuddin Makhdoom, who started authentic history writing about Kerala and authored several anti-occupation works. The minister said that the speech also exposed the inappropriateness of the denial approach shown by the Sangh Parivar organizations and the central government towards the Arabic language, which had an insignificant role in the growth of knowledge and science in the Middle Ages. Minister Bindu informed that teachers, writers and linguists representing the universities of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Kenya, Egypt and Iraq participated in the seminar held in different sessions.

Four-year undergraduate courses; Training program
The aim is to start four-year undergraduate courses from next year. The Minister informed that a training program has been prepared as part of this. The newly appointed principals of government colleges have been prepared and given necessary explanation about the changes to be implemented at the college level. The minister informed that the participants clarified how the principals should perform their duties for the improvement of facilities and other development in the government colleges.
