More than 80 academy trainees from various centers across three districts will showcase their soccer skills at the service. Calicut Sports City, in partnership with AC Milan Club, is opening the first Indian branch of the academy in Kerala. Aluva, Edappally and Kakkanad are the district centers of Ernakulam. Apart from Ernakulam, four centres: Moozhikal, Omassery, Calicut Beach and Cheruvannur in Kozhikode district and Tirur and Edapal centers in Malappuram district have started functioning.
There are currently 120 trainees in 9 centres. The academy will have separate lots for children between the ages of 5 and 18. In the first phase, 12 centers will be operational with a capacity to train 1200 students. Each district will have at least 2 schools as special centers.
The Milan Academy is made up of a team of sports professionals including managers, football coaches, teachers and instructors. AC Milan will operate in accordance with the Club’s principles of world-class performance.
The academy in Kerala is managed directly by AC Milan. Unlike franchise models across the country, it guarantees world-class training. The training is aimed at the development of physical and technical cognitive abilities through the understanding of the characteristics of individuals. The coaching staff will be directly monitored and controlled by the club. They are selected, trained and managed following a rigorous performance management system.
The entire project is managed by a team with experience and qualifications in program management, sports and fitness management and football management.
The press conference was attended by AC Milan Ambassador Christian Panocchi, Milan Academy Project Manager Gianmarzo Succi, Milan Academy Official Coach Alberto Lacandela, Calicut Sports City CEO Milan Baiju and Director Abdul Nasser.
