Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that by activating the sports economy in the state, the necessary human resources for the sports sector will be created in Kerala itself. The Chief Minister said that investment will be encouraged by attracting private entrepreneurs and start-ups to the sports sector.
He was inaugurating the International Sports Summit organized by the state government at Kariyavattam Greenfield Stadium.
The aim of the summit is to make Kerala a wellness and fitness hub. The state is lagging behind in many areas. Recognizing this, reforms will be made in this area. The Chief Minister said that besides making sports compulsory at the school level, quality playgrounds will be constructed.
Presiding Minister V. Abdurrahman said. He added that sports tourism and sports industry will be encouraged.
Minister V. said that grace marks for sportspersons will be restructured and sports education will be ensured from class 1 to class 12. Shivankutty said.
Ministers G.R. Anil, P. Prasad, Speaker A.N. Shamsir, Mayor Arya Rajendran, MLAs Katakampally Surendran, V. Joy, V.K. Prashant, K. Anselen, C.K. Harindran, District Panchayat President D. Suresh Kumar, President Sports Council U. Sharafali, Chief Secretary V. Venu, Sports Secretary Pranab Jyotinath and Olympian Ashwini Nachappa were present.
Seminars, sports expo, film festival etc will be held as part of the summit. Around 1,000 delegates from India and abroad will participate.
Kerala Cricket Association announced plans of 1200 crores, Meeran Group and Scoreline Sports along with Kerala Football Association announced plans of 800 crores and e-sporting companies No Scoping and Beta Group jointly announced plans of 350 crores.
