Kerala High Court Questions Petition by VD Satheesan Regarding KFON Scandal

Kochi: The High Court questioned the public interest in the petition filed by opposition leader VD Satheesan citing corruption in the K phone project. Satheesan reached the court demanding that there was a massive corruption in the project and that the CBI should conduct an investigation under the supervision of the court.

The court also asked why the decision of 2019 is being questioned in 2024. The petitioner said that he would produce the rest of the evidence after receiving the CAG report. But the court asked that ‘it is not enough to receive it’. Meanwhile, the government told the court that it was not a CAG report but only observations.

In the petition, V.D. Satheesan alleged that those controlling the government were giving contracts to the substitutes and the company closest to the person in power got the contract. This company diverted contract work and financial profit to another company.

The petition also alleges that fraud and corruption in the manner of the road camera project has also taken place in K phone transactions. The cost of the project was initially pegged at Rs 1028.20 crore. It was also alleged in the petition that Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Limited was chosen as the implementing agency.
