Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala High Court Chief Justice S. is retiring from service on April 23. Govt send off to Manikumar. This is the first time that a Chief Justice has been given an official send-off by the government. The farewell was given at a hotel in Kovalam on Wednesday evening.
Chief Minister, Ministers, Chief Secretary, Advocate General and senior officials also attended the farewell ceremony.
When Chief Justices retire, the practice is that only the Full Court of the High Court grants leave. Such a farewell was held in Kochi last week. Along with that, the senior advocates also gave a special farewell.
The government is giving an unusual farewell to the retiring High Court Chief Justice shortly after the Lokayukta and Upalokayukta hearing the relief fund case against the Chief Minister created a big controversy over his attendance at the Chief Minister’s Iftar.
