After installing giant cutouts of international football megastars, fans have installed a giant cutout of Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri in Thrissur. Though India is widely regarded as a cricket-obsessed nation, football has a huge following.

Chhetri is India’s all-time leading scorer. He also has the third most goals among active players, behind Ronaldo and Messi. The Indian team is ranked 106th in the FIFA rankings. Cannot qualify for a FIFA World Cup berth. However, India gradually made progress and improved significantly after manager Igor Stimac took charge.
FIFA previously shared viral photographs of giant cutouts of Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Even though India will not participate in the FIFA World Cup, Thrissur fans have not hesitated to put up a 40-foot long cut of Chhetri.
