Kerala’s second win in the Santosh Cup football tournament group match. Kerala beat Lakshadweep by a one-sided ten-wicket margin. Kerala scored four goals in the first half and by the end of the game, the number of goals reached ten. Substitute E Sajeesh scored three goals for Kerala. Striker Gani Muhammad and striker Muhammad Ajsal scored two goals each while Naseeb Rahman, Arjun and Muhammad Musharraf scored one each for Kerala. Lakshadweep could not do much against Kerala’s strong play. Lakshadweep could not break down Kerala’s defense and could not score a single goal.
Kerala took the lead in the sixth minute of the match. Lijo Gilbert’s pass by striker Muhammad Ajsal went to the Lakshadweep net. Midfielder Naseeb Rahman increased the lead to two in the ninth minute, but Lakshadweep goalkeeper Zaheer Khan could do nothing. In the 20th minute, Muhammad Ajsal fired again and scored the third goal. Substitute Sajeesh scored in the 37th minute to extend Kerala’s lead to four and end the first half. Just after the start of the second half, long ranger Arjun scored in the 46th minute to increase Kerala’s lead to five. Gani Muhammad scored a goal in the 55th minute while Muhammad Musharraf scored for Kerala in the 57th minute.
E Sajeesh scored in the 78th minute and Mohammad Gani scored in the 81st minute to extend Kerala’s lead to nine. With one minute to go for the final whistle of the match, S Sajeesh scored his first goal to take Kerala’s final score to ten goals. Kerala united play is the achievement. Kerala will face Pondicherry on Sunday. Railways beat Pondicherry by ten wickets to one in the Friday morning match.
