Kochi: Kerala Blasters will face Mumbai City FC in today’s Indian Super League football match. The match will be played at Kalur Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from 8 PM.
Mumbai City are the current champions. The Blasters are unbeaten in all six home matches this season. They won four matches and lost two draws. The return of coach Ivan Vukumanovic, who watched the last match sitting in the dugout due to ban, will be exciting for Blasters. They are troubled by the fact that Adrian Luna, the captain and superstar in the midfield, is out due to injury. Luna, who underwent foot surgery, is not guaranteed to play the rest of the season. Blasters’ confidence doubled as they defeated Punjab FC at their home ground.
In-form striker Dimitrios Diamantakos spearheads the Blasters attack. The player has scored five goals in the season so far. Mumbai will be without Akash Mishra, Greg Stewart, Vikram Pratap Singh and Rahul Bheke. All four were red carded in the match against Mohun Bagan Super Giants.
The referee issued a total of seven red cards in the match. Vukumanovic said that Mumbai cannot be written off even if four players are not playing. Vukumanovic also pointed out that Mumbai coach Juan Fernando’s strategies are giving good results to the team. Blasters lost 2-1 to Mumbai in the away match. Blasters are at the second position with 20 points from 10 games and Mumbai are at the third position with 19 points from nine games.
