Kolkata. Kerala Blasters defeated Mohun Bagan Super Giants for the first time in the history of Indian Super League. The Blasters won by a one-sided goal at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Greek forward Dimitrios Diamentakos scored the only goal of the match in the ninth minute. The dominance gained by Blasters in the first half was lost in the second half but held on without conceding a goal.
With their eighth win, Blasters jumped to the first position in the table with 26 points from 12 matches. FC Goa is in the second position with 23 points from nine games. This is the first time Mohun Bagan has lost three consecutive matches in a season. They are fifth with 19 points.
Blasters rocked Bagan
The first half of the match was moments when Mohun Bagan trembled in front of Blasters’ attacks. Manveer Singh failed to score the free kick in the last minute. Rahul’s shot fails in the immediate counter attack. Goalie Vishal Keith deflected the youngster’s shot. Bagan got one more free kick in extra time of the match but it didn’t matter. In the 95th minute, a smashing shot by Daisuke Saka from Rahul’s pass was saved by the Kolkata goalie. Blasters’ first ISL win against Bagan after six minutes of extra time.
