Delhi: Kerala has again approached the Supreme Court against Governor Arif Muhammad Khan. The Supreme Court has approached the Supreme Court against the rejection of the petition filed in the High Court in 2022 against the act of not signing the bills. This is the second petition against the Governor within a week. The petition has been filed by the Chief Secretary and the Law Secretary.
The new petition is to be considered tomorrow in the Supreme Court when the petition filed by the Kerala government and TP Ramakrishnan MLA, with Governor Arif Muhammad Khan and the central government as opposite parties. The first is that the Governor has held up the University Act Amendments, Cooperatives Act Amendment, Public Health Act Amendment and Lokayukta Act Amendment without taking a decision. The petition says that the governor should be instructed to take a decision on the bills as soon as possible. The government also requests the court to point out that the withholding of bills is a violation of the constitution. Some bills have been withheld by the governor for more than two years without any reason. Also on hold is a public health bill to take measures to prevent infectious diseases. This is the equality guaranteed by the Constitution. and the right to life is denied. The Governor subverts the Constitution by acting at his discretion. The governor is bound to reply to the court in this matter.
Earlier judgments said that the Governor should take a decision within a reasonable time. Kerala is also putting forward a proposal that the seven-member Constitution Bench should determine this time if necessary. Former Attorney General KK Venugopal will appear for Kerala.
