The Public Institution Customer Satisfaction Survey conducted by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance is an annual survey of customers who have used the service.

Last year, 245 public institutions were evaluated, and 14 institutions in Gwangju and Jeonnam were the targets.

In the survey, which was evaluated in three stages: excellent, average, and insufficient, five institutions, including KEPCO, Chonnam National University Hospital, and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, received the lowest rank, ‘insufficient’.

The result was less than 50% of the service quality-related targets achieved.

In particular, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the largest public corporation in Korea, received an ‘Insufficient’ rating for three consecutive years.

KEPCO said negative public opinion, such as deficits and electricity rate hikes at the beginning of this year during the investigation period, seemed to have influenced the results of the investigation, and said that it would come up with supplementary measures after receiving detailed results.

Chonnam National University Hospital, which plays a central role in local medical services, also fell from mediocre in 2021 to poor last year.

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology has received ‘insufficient’ for six consecutive years since the last 2017 survey.

In Gwangju and Jeonnam, Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority was the only one to receive an ‘excellent’ grade among 14 target institutions.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance plans to establish plans to improve services to the public for institutions that have been evaluated as ‘insufficient’, and to review the implementation performance on a quarterly basis.
