And after achieving her third world title in the 1500m on Tuesday, Kipyegon snatched her second gold on Friday, with a time of 14:53.88 minutes, in front of her Dutch competitor Sivan Hassan (14:54.11 d), while her compatriot Beatrice Shebet came third (14:54.11 d).
“It’s been a great year for me. This is a historic day. Winning two gold medals at the World Championships is what I’ve been dreaming of this season,” Kipyegon said after her victory on the track, which featured six of the ten fastest runners in the world.
“I was patiently waiting to be able to break world records and win two golds. But my dream has just come true, it’s amazing,” she added.
