It was triple Kenyan at the top on the men’s side. The winner, Edmond Kipngetic, crossed the finish line first in a time of 01:01:46.
Bravin Kiprop entered the goal 40 seconds after the winning time. Alex Kibet, the big pre-favourite, was third with a time of 01:03:24.
Susan Chembai won the women’s side
There was a Kenyan win on the women’s side as well. Susan Chembai and pre-favourite Aberash Shilima ran evenly for a long time, until Chembai grabbed the baton firmly and won with a time of 01:10:40.
– It was very difficult, the group was strong. I didn’t think I would win, but I thank God for this victory, says winner Susan Chembai.
Aberash Shilima from Ethiopia was second with a time of 01:11:00. The bronze went to Nelly Jeptoo from Kenya, who finished close behind in a time of 01:11:10.
