The 27-year-old native of Kenya, who represents Australia and also played at last year’s World Championship, came to Letná in the winter as a big reinforcement. In the end, however, he didn’t get that many chances in the starting line-up, and when he did start, things rather creaked in the game. “His contribution was probably not as expected,” states Aleš Svoboda, moderator of Přímák. “On the other hand, he converted two incredibly important penalties in Liberec and won a penalty against Slavia,” indicating what the main contribution of the Australian representative was.
“It wasn’t easy for him, he came on loan, he had competition for his position. The question is, how would he play if he started steadily from the start. Then when he got a chance, it didn’t suit him. But those penalty moments decided that Sparta paid everything back,” says the former coach of Letenský in the Přímák program.
If he then fit back into the role of sporting director of the league leader and had to decide on Mabil’s future at the club, he would be clear. “So if I had the opportunity, I wouldn’t continue to pursue him,” he states, but emphasizes that he is not in this role. “It’s up to Sparta and its management.”
