The country’s authorities intend to find out the total number of wild animals and their distribution in the country.
The Kenyan authorities on Friday, May 7, began the country’s first wildlife census, reported British Air Force service citing Kenya Wildlife Service.
It is noted that the census began in the eastern part of the country, in the national reserve Shimba Hills.
The process also involves employees of the Wildlife Research and Training Institute, an independent organization that conducts research in the field of animal protection.
According to the Kenyan authorities, the purpose of the census is to find out the total number of wild animals and their distribution in the country, as well as to determine population trends of individuals over time and to identify threats to the conservation of various species.
According to the BBC, the Wildlife Service operates 55 nature reserves and parks.
