Kenny McIntosh: College Career, NFL Draft, and Injury Update

Kenneth “Kenny” McIntosh (born March 3, 2000 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is an American football player at the running back position in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Georgia and was selected in the seventh round by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Kenny McIntosh grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.[1] His two older brothers also played football. Deon McIntosh played running back in college for Notre Dame and Washington State[2]RJ McIntosh played as a defensive end for Miami and then played in the NFL.[3]

McIntosh attended the University of Georgia starting in 2019 to play college football for the Georgia Bulldogs. He received limited playing time as a freshman during the 2019 season, rushing for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns on 25 carries while playing behind running backs D’Andre Swift, Brian Herrien, Zamir White and James Cook.[4] As a sophomore in the shortened 2020 season, McIntosh rushed for 251 yards and 1 touchdown on 47 carries.[5] In 13 games as a junior in 2021 (including the SEC Championship and Georgia’s two playoff games), McIntosh ran for 328 yards and 3 touchdowns on 58 carries, to go along with 242 receiving yards and 2 caught touchdowns.[6]

On December 31, 2021, in the first quarter of the Orange Bowl against Michigan (first round of the CFP), Georgia executed a trick play in which McIntosh took a handoff from quarterback Stetson Bennett, rolled right and completed an 18-yard touchdown pass to receiver Adonai Mitchell, giving Georgia a 14-0 lead.[7] The Bulldogs later won 34-11 and advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. In the National Championship Game, McIntosh ran 2 times for 6 yards and caught 3 passes for 23 yards, Georgia won the game against Alabama 33-18.[8] In the 2022 season, McIntosh won the college national championship again with Georgia (65-7 against the TCU Horned Frogs) and was a starter in 14 of 15 games.[9]

McIntosh was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round, 237th overall, of the 2023 NFL Draft.[11] On September 9, 2023, he was placed on the Injured Reserve List due to a knee injury.[12]
