The Red Sox agreed to a major arm to bolster their bullpen on Wednesday, signing star closer Kenley Jansen to a two-year, $32 million deal, reported MLB Network’s Joel Sherman. The club has not confirmed.
Jansen, one of the winningest players in history, left the Dodgers after 12 seasons to sign a one-year deal with the Braves last March. But the results were the same, despite the change of uniform.
Jansen led the National League with 41 saves, which he accompanied with a 3.38 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 64 total innings.
The right-hander has four seasons with at least 40 saves and ranks eighth in AL/NL history with 391 blocks.
