Kenjeran Waterpark Manager Speaks Up About Ambrol Slide

Bambang Irianto HRD manager of PT. BCW Bangun Citra Wisata, which manages all of the rides at Kenjeran Park, spoke about the crash of the ride that claimed 16 victims who are currently being treated by Dr Soetomo Hospital and Soewandi Hospital.

“We have spoken with the Tanjung Perak Port Police Chief. Currently the team is looking for information, this incident was due to an error or because of the age of the ride,” he said, Saturday (7/5/2022).

Until now, said Bambang, his party is also waiting for the results of the investigation by the police team to find evidence.

As a representative of Kenpark, Bambang conveyed his responsibility for the incident. He said the manager will bear all costs from treatment to post-treatment.

“The family of the company owner has said that they will take full responsibility for this incident,” he said.

Bambang claims that the slide, which was built since 2016, has been checked regularly, starting from the equipment to the testing team.

He said that when the month of Ramadan just ended yesterday, every ride had been checked and updated for all of its readiness.

“We updated the slide yesterday, the maximum is 10 people and we have to take turns. There are 10 people who go up and 10 people go down, but visitors are really happy when more and more people come together,” he added.

Due to the crash of the rides, the management temporarily closed the swimming pool rides. However, Kenjeran beach remains open as usual, said Bambang after confirmation.

Because of the incident, a total of 16 people were rushed to the Soewandi Hospital and DR Soetomo Hospital, each of whom amounted to eight people.

In that incident, Eri Cahyadi, the Mayor of Surabaya, who visited the two hospitals, made this incident a major evaluation for every tourist attraction and place in the city of Surabaya.

“This is a joint evaluation, although the vehicle owned by the private sector already has a permit, there must be regular operational checks. I have confirmed that the management will be responsible for this incident,” concluded Eri. (wld/iss)
