Kendari Health Office Records 230 Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Cases in 2022 – ANTARA News Southeast Sulawesi – ANTARA News Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi

Kendari (ANTARA) – The Health Bureau of Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, noted that during 2022, at least 230 residents in the area were attacked by dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), and six of them were declared dead.

“During 2022, the number of dengue cases in this area reached 230 cases and six of them died,” Kendari Rahminingrum Health Service Chief in Kendari said on Monday.

He said the DHF cases in Kendari were distributed in nine sub-districts, most of which were in Puuwatu district, namely 68 cases, followed by Wua-wua 35 cases, Baruga 33 cases, West Kendari 27 cases, Kadia 25 cases, Poasia 19 cases, Kendari 12 cases, Mandonga nine cases and Kambu District two cases.

“One person died of dengue in West Kendari district, two in Puuwatu district and three in Wua-wua district,” he said.

He explained that DHF cases in Kendari City were up from 2021 which recorded 211 cases, with five deaths.

Meanwhile, from 2019 to 2021, the trend of dengue cases in the capital of the Southeast Sulawesi province decreased. In 2019 there were 450 cases of DHF with two deaths, in 2020 there were 307 cases with six deaths and in 2021 there were 211 cases with four deaths.

He asked all residents of the area to be aware of the potential for DHF to spread, especially now that there are frequent rains that will leave puddles or puddles that are potential breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

He also called on the local community to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) to eradicate dengue. Furthermore, the community is also being asked to do 3M plus, i.e. drain, close and recycle used goods which are breeding ground for mosquitoes.

“Protecting the environment and cleaning your home, both inside and outside your home, is important to prevent dengue, including adopting a clean, healthy lifestyle and applying 3M plus,” Rahmingrum said.
