It was delivered regional Secretary (Sekda) Kendari City, Nahwa Umar when officially opening the commemoration of World Rabies Day 2021 at the Agricultural Quarantine Center Kendari City, Monday (4/10/2021).
“Today we are not only commemorating World Rabies Day 2021, but also celebrating love for all animals around us, including cats, dogs, and others,” he said.
Nahwa Umar said that with this kind of activity, rabies can be prevented as early as possible, so that inhabitant can live close to pet.
The Kendari City Secretary appealed to Kendari City residents if they bought a dog or cat at a veterinary shop, they should first give an injection of the rabies vaccine.

Moreover, according to him, contact with pet newly purchased must be limited, because it is not yet known how the health status.
Nahwa Umar explained that the prevention of rabies requires a one health approach through cross-sectoral collaboration and commitment consisting of human, animal and environmental health.
This is because the success of rabies control is greatly influenced by the involvement of all levels of society.
Then the success of socialization, and understanding of the ecology of HPR (Rabies Carrier Animals) in this case dogs as the main target of rabies transmission.
