‘Digital’ rehabilitation for patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease and Pisa syndrome (strongly disabling postural anomaly). The innovative research initiative for neurorehabilitation is the result of the collaboration between the Mondino Foundation of Pavia and Kemtai, a digital platform that uses cutting-edge technology for movement tracking and artificial vision guidance with the aim of supporting patients in rehabilitation at home, continuing with the exercises performed during the hospital stay.
Kemtai’s platform provides movement analysis, real-time feedback and corrective guidance that allows rehabilitation exercises to be performed in a personalized way and without the need for expensive or cumbersome equipment. “Our multidisciplinary team of professionals dedicated to the rehabilitation of people with neurological diseases – explains Cristina Tassorelli, director of the Headache and Neurorehabilitation Center of the Mondino Foundation – gives priority to the quality of care and, to do so, makes use of innovative technologies”. Tassorelli then underlines “the importance of integrating advanced technology into patient care” and thanks to this collaboration “it is possible to offer personalized and cutting-edge rehabilitation programs to people with Parkinson’s disease, cared for in our centre, thanks to a real-time monitoring, in hospital or remotely, which allows the improvement of their performance and quality of life”.
Kemtai was born in 2019 thanks to three co-founders who have over 20 years of experience in the fields of computer vision, motion tracking and adaptive personalization. The company has created an AI-powered visual exercise and assessment platform that can provide real-time feedback and guidance for physical therapy, rehabilitation and medical fitness. The platform can be used on any camera-equipped device (smartphone, laptop and tablet) and requires no additional sensors, wearables or hardware.
The company works internationally with digital and traditional healthcare providers around the world, providing care to thousands of patients in the United States, Europe, Australia and Israel. “We are deeply honored to collaborate with a leading institution like the Mondino Foundation. Their commitment to neurological research and rehabilitation is unparalleled – says Mor Amitai, co-founder and CEO of Kemtai – and we are excited to contribute our technology to improve outcomes for patients who can continue rehabilitation at home with same level of care and guidance they received in hospital, ensuring they maintain the progress made during their stay.”
