CelebritiesKelly Clarkson never actually wanted to get married. This is what the 41-year-old American singer says in ‘People’ magazine. She was married to Brandon Blackstock for almost seven years before they decided to divorce.
“I never wanted to get married in the beginning,” says the ‘Since U Been Gone’ singer, who has a daughter named River Rose, 9, and a son named Remington Alexander, 7, with Blackstock. He also has a daughter Savannah (21) and a son Seth (17) with his ex-wife Melissa Ashworth.
“Brandon had children, a religious background and I think it was important to him. But I’ve never been that type.” Clarkson, who filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020, also says she has experienced several divorces in her family and therefore was not immediately looking forward to it. “It can happen, it doesn’t have to happen.”

The singer also reveals that she doesn’t like the dating life. “Dating sucks. It’s so difficult. I was single until I was 30 and I forgot how good I am at that.”
Clarkson knows very well what she is ultimately looking for. “I told a friend that my future partner should be a person who has his own life, without needing anything from me,” she says. “I feel really good at the moment, I’m having a good time.”
