Now it turns out that it may be okay for Clarkson with what is probably a relatively good income. She has to pay over 1.7 million to her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock (44), every month.
The amount shall cover both spouse’s allowance and child allowance. This means that Blackstock will in future receive a total of 195,601 US dollars from the artist each month, which will be approximately 2.4 million dollars a year – which is equivalent to a staggering 21 million Norwegian kroner.
A pretty decent annual salary, in other words.
This has been imposed on her by a judge in Los Angeles County. She is also required to pay 1.25 million dollars – 10.9 million Norwegian kroner – to her ex-husband to cover the lawyer and any other costs the divorce entails.
It was in June 2020 that the singer filed for divorce. Then they had been married for seven years. The couple have children River Rose (7) and Remington Alexander (5) together.
The ex-couple have shared care for the children, but they have a permanent residence with Clarkson in Los Angeles. Blackstock has an address on the family ranch in Montana.
– Everyone is sad
The former couple met during a rehearsal for the Academy for Country Music Awards in 2006, and got engaged six years later – in 2012.
Clarkson cited “incompatible differences” as the reason she wanted to divorce her husband. Two months after the breaking news, she spoke for the first time – to defend herself.
– I have a great family and friends who are there for me. It is very difficult to navigate through being open, and to share their story that can help others, and at the same time protect these little children I love, she said in October last year.
Furthermore, she opened up about how the family copes with the tough times.
– We have received a lot of help from therapists and child psychologists because we want to do it right. I will definitely do it right. Everyone is sad, and it’s okay to be sad, she said.
