At 32, Kélian Galletier decided to take a new turn in his career. The third row, trained in Montpellier, where he spent most of his career, before bouncing back to Perpignan, signed up for NOLA Gold Rugby, the club from New Orleans, in the United States (NOLA for “New Orleans, Louisiana”).
Without a club since the end of his contract at Usap, where he played 14 matches last season (5 starts in the Top 14), the former international with 6 selections, gleaned between 2016 and 2018, will therefore discover the Major League Rugby, whose 2025 season should begin in March.
“I wouldn’t have had the United States, I would have stopped, said Galletier au Free Middaymardi. I quickly realized that it was over in France […] The League already has a good level. There are differences in level, between players and between teams, but it’s really a developing league, which already has Top 14 level players. It goes from Top 14 to National in fact, so there too it’s very wide. It’s multicultural […] It raises the level of the Championship. […] They also have the objective of organizing the World Cup in 2031, to structure the entire country in relation to its rugby culture. Personally, it’s interesting to see. »
In New Orleans, Clermont’s partner club, Galletier will find Nicolas Godignon, the former coach of Brive and Rouen. He signed for two seasons, until 2026.
