On August 30, the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) began production of the project to strengthen and secure the drinking water supply to the center of Laattaouia (province of El Kelaâ des Sraghna) and neighboring douars, using a single-block water treatment plant.

With a total cost of 12 million dirhams, financed by ONEE through a loan from the German Development Bank (KFW), this project includes the equipment of a raw water intake, the construction of a single-block station with 2 treatment lines with a production capacity of 1700 m3 per day, the construction of raw water transport pipes and discharge of treated water to the existing distribution reservoir, over a total length of approximately 3.6 km.

A press release from ONEE indicated that this project will make it possible to meet the drinking water needs of a total population of 40,000 inhabitants of the center of Laattaouia and neighboring douars, in the short and medium term.

The said project, which is intended to be the sixth commissioning of the year 2024, will also contribute to improving the living conditions of the beneficiary populations and supporting the socio-economic development of the region, the press release added.
