Criticism of the government, because it rejected his proposal for the umpteenth time SYRIZA for legal recognition of the term “femicide” exercised by Voula Kehagia via Action24:
“We wonder why the government, once again, refuses to recognize the term “femicide”. Of course, femicide is homicide, but femicide shows a more comprehensive understanding of the possessiveness that the male gender has towards the female gender, which in the opinion of some can be considered vulnerable and weak, as well as the exercise of violence, psychological or physical, in women who are not able to move away, to leave, to live alone, to be financially independent. The term femicide has a legal basis and internationally, the UN itself is in favor of recognizing and legalizing the term “femicide”.
“Populism surprises me in a negative way”
The official opposition spokeswoman also commented on the claim Boridethat the SYRIZA proposal on feminicide constitutes populism:
“Okay, we hear once again about the “popularists of SYRIZA…”. I think that in this specific issue there should not be political differences or we should throw out such characterizations, for “populism”. Our perception is different: society talks about femicides, the President of the Republic spoke about femicides, international organizations refer to the same term” said and added:
“We say that femicide, because it is a phenomenon that multiplies and intensifies in Greek society as well, without being only a Greek phenomenon, must be legally enshrined as a term. Nothing less and nothing more. And the things about populism surprise me negatively.”
