Kefalonia is still moving in the Richter dance, with dozens of low-intensity earthquakes recorded in the last 24 hours.
The director of the Geodynamic Institute, Akis Tselentis, was placed on the subject in relation to his post on social media.
Among other things, he emphasizes that the microseismic action is not related to the fault that caused the earthquake in Lixouri and is expected to continue for several days.
“We are monitoring it in case there is a shift towards the large rift zone,” Mr. Tselentis pointed out.
The Celentis post in detail
“In the last 24 hours we have observed a very intense microseismic activity North of Assos in a NW-SE direction (green on the map). It has nothing to do with the great fault that runs parallel to Paliki (which gave us the great Lixouri earthquake). This fault continues NE passing the Western coast of Lefkada (red on the map). The phenomenon will continue for several days, due to the small focal depth these earthquakes will be quite noticeable. We are monitoring it to see if there is a change in the microseismic activity towards the large rift zone that I mentioned above.”
