At a time when large sections of society cannot go on vacation due to the very high prices of ferry tickets, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni made statements that challenge common sense, as she spoke of “stability in prices”.
In particular, in an interview with ERT, she said that “exhaustive checks are carried out for violations of the laws regarding ticket prices, there is also an observatory for fare prices. It seems that this year there is a stability in the prices, maybe even reduced in the conventional ships, but the prices are a little higher in the high-speed ships”.
In fact, he added that “we are considering the possibility that the voucher of the beneficiaries of the “Tourism for All” program can also be used for fares to destinations”.
Finally, regarding the coastal ferry connections, he noted that: “the fact that this year the government has put a much larger amount in the budget for the connections, so that there is no island that does not have a connection, this is also important. It is an equation that is very difficult.”
