Mrs Carmelita Vázquez is a woman who at 80 years of age no drop his broom, hardly even to eat, since most of his life was spent has dedicated to cleaning streets and homes in the western sector of Torreón, andn special the Colonia San JoaquínHowever, like his broom, poverty has been one more companion in his journey.
Her body seems fragile but every day she gets up and walks aloneHis mind already wanders between memories that come to him, while his hearing capacity has been reduced to near silence. Both she and His 51-year-old son Juan lives at the foot of the hill in a humble house that seems to be falling apart.
In one of the rooms at the back of the house, between walls and ceilings about to collapse, between garbage and dirt, there Juan sleeps on the ground, whose mental disability prevents him from fending for himself and often wanders aimlessly streets of the San Joaquín neighborhood.
On one side of the house lives the sister of Carmelita, whose daughter, Mariana Puentes, took advantage of her visit to the region from Ciudad Juárez, to take care of her aunt with what she can, mainly with her hygiene and food, while normally other relatives usually take her “a taco”.
“She has always been very humble and has dedicated herself to cleaning streets and houses, from there she got some money from before my uncle died,” shared Carmelita’s niece, who requests the support of the public since in about days he will return to his city of origin, to donate blankets, some winter clothes.
They also require non-perishable and easy-to-manage foods since they sometimes eat alone. Collaboration is requested to donate disposable diapers type ‘panties’ of the small size.
