“Keep racism out”, a Salerno la Junior Tim Cup

The Salernitana hosted the twelfth stage of the Junior TIM Cup | Keep Racism Outthe youth 7-a-side football tournament promoted by Serie A League, TIM e Italian Sports Center, which this year celebrates its eleventh edition. Representatives of the Granata Club welcomed the “Mary Rosy” Sports Center the boys ofSant’Eustachio Oratorywho were able to spend an unforgettable day alongside some of the protagonists of the Serie A TIM.

The participants

To take part in the meeting titled “Keep Racism Out”, the campaign aimed at raising awareness among young people and not only about the phenomenon of racism and every form of discrimination, were the footballers Lorenzo Pirola e Julius Major, who told the kids present about their football experience, underlining the importance of respect and collaboration in sport as in life. The young athletes then donated the shirt to Pirola, Maggiore1 of Us”, symbol of the competition JTC | INN. Also present at the event, to underline the synergy we aspire to between grassroots and professional sports, were the kids from the youth sector of US Salernitana 1919.

The objectives

Brotherhood, cooperation and integration are in fact the values ​​that sport in general and Junior TIM Cup | Keep Racism Out in particular they want to be spokespersons, guiding the young generations on a path that always puts hospitality and fairplay first.

“Respect for others is the basis of life, and is also fundamental in sport to achieve better results. Football is a team sport and must unite, it must be one of the first weapons that society must have to bring a message of unity” said the Granata midfielder Giulio Maggiore. “In the Salerno area we have many different nationalities, cultures and religions” added defender Lorenzo Pirola. “It is important to respect them all and create a bond with everyone”.

The numbers

The Junior TIM Cup, from its inception in 2013 until 2023, involved over 90,000 young people, more than 6,650 speakers and around 35,000 matches played. In the last two years the Junior TIM Cup has supported the Lega Serie A “Keep Racism Out” campaign and this year too it will involve the CSI speakers throughout the national territory in reflection meetings and educational activities, which will see the Club champions of the Serie A TIM, educators and experts interact with the young participants under 14 of the tournament.

Next appointments

The events of the under 14 tournament aimed at the speakers of the cities whose teams play in the 2023/2024 Serie A TIM will continue in the coming weeks. The young athletes will be involved in awareness meetings with the champions of great football, as well as being guests of the Clubs on tours of the stadiums of the top championship and on the occasion of JTC matches | KRO which will be played in the pre-match of Serie A TIM matches.
