Kediri City, Indonesia, is grappling with a significant increase⁤ in lifestyle-related⁣ diseases, with hypertension and diabetes mellitus leading the alarming surge. According to the Kediri ⁤City Health Service, these conditions dominated health concerns throughout 2024.

The sheer ‌number​ of cases is staggering. By November 2024, a total of 18,046 ⁣hypertension cases were recorded, followed closely by 7,519 cases of diabetes mellitus. Other prevalent conditions included 6,587 cases of non-pneumonia acute respiratory tract infections (ARI), 1,811 cases of tuberculosis (TB), 247 cases of dengue fever, ⁣and 235 cases ⁤of ⁢HIV. The HIV cases included⁢ residents both from within and outside Kediri City.

Hendik Supriyanto,Head of the Disease Control and Eradication Program (P2P) at the ⁢Kediri City‌ Health ‌Service,highlighted the concerning trend: “The diseases that dominate ⁢or are the ​highest so ⁣far are non-communicable diseases,the first of which is hypertension. The highest incidence of ‍hypertension during 2004 until November 2024 ⁤has been ⁢recorded as 18,046 cases.
