“Making these films is so exhausting and it destroys Keanu, physically and emotionally,” Iwanyk explains. “Towards the end he always says ‘I can’t do this again’ and we agree with him. The man is then a shadow of himself, because he just goes all the way for it. He said ‘I definitely want to get killed at the end of this movie’ and we were like, ‘you know what, we’re going to leave a little ten percent gap’.”
Although it has already been announced that a fifth John Wickfilm is in an early production phase, Iwanyk says that it is not yet known what it will look like. “Everyone has to help figure it out,” he says. “Do we have an idea yet? No. And if we can’t figure it out, will there be a sequel? No, of course not. No one will try to push it through just to push it through.”
