Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in the book series adaptation “The devil in the white city”. A series produced by Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Todd Field and Sam Shaw.
This is the serial adaptation of Erik Larson’s book published in 2003, “The devil in the white city”. So, if the two sides come to an agreement, it would be Keanu Reeves’ first major role on American television. Indeed, it is the American streaming platform Hulu that would produce and broadcast this new series.
The Devil In The White City follows the true story of Daniel H. Burnham, the architect of Chicag World Expoo in 1893, and of Henry H. Holmes, a physician widely regarded as the first modern serial killer to create his « Murder Castle » on the grounds of the fairs.
And Leonardo DiCaprio first bought the film rights to the book in 2010. He initially wanted to produce a film with Paramount and Martin Scorsese at the helm. Thus, the famous director is still attached to the project. Indeed, he will serve as executive producer alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Sam Shaw, Jennifer Davisson and Stacey Sher.
A series from a true story
The Devil in the White City So tells the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose destinies were forever linked by the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. He follows Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and meticulous architect who runs to make its mark on the world. And Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and crafty doctor who fashioned his own pharmaceutical “Murder Castle” on a fairground, a palace built to seduce, torture and maim young women.
Thus, the story takes the viewer on a tour of murder, romance and mystery of the Golden Age.
