The KDE community has just released Plasma 5.26 as the latest update to this open source desktop environment and with the end of Plasma 5 feature development, the official release is fast approaching. One of the most noticeable improvements in Plasma 5.26 is the introduction of a new large screen user interface, specially prepared for TVs and other large format monitors. Here’s what it looks like:
Wayland support has been further refined in KDE Plasma 5.26, another notable change in this release. Wayland Plasma Sessions now handle input area mapping adjustment for graphics tablets, better handling of composer / app scaling by apps, among other fixes.
Plasma 5.26 also brings some enhancements to the Discovery Center, including content ratings for Plasma 5.26 apps, a “Share” button on app pages, and more.
There are other improvements to Plasma 5.26, such as a simpler preview of desktop backgrounds in the KDE system settings and various other improvements to the KDE system settings.

Meanwhile Plasma 5.27 should be the last functional version of the Plasma 5 series before upgrading to Plasma 6.0.
