Kbench reports improved GPU performance in Galaxy S24’s Snapdragon 8 third-generation processor.

Qualcomm, an American semiconductor company, reported on the 11th, citing a Chinese Weibo report, that the GPU performance of the 3rd generation Snapdragon 8 chipset will improve by up to 50% compared to the 2nd generation.

Adreno 740 GPU installed in the latest Snapdragon 8 2nd generation chipset shows faster performance than Apple A16 Bionic. According to the Weibo report, the Adreno 750 GPU installed in the 3rd generation chipset is said to be 50% faster than the 2nd generation.

Samsung Electronics is expected to equip the Snapdragon 8 3th generation chipset to the galaxy s24 series that will be released early next year. Sammobile said, “This means that the GPU of the Galaxy S24 series is likely to be faster than the iPhone 15 with the A17 Bionic chip.” However, in terms of CPU performance, A17 Bionic is still expected to lead.

Qualcomm plans to unveil its Snapdragon 8 3rd generation chipset in the second half of this year. The 3rd generation chipset is manufactured with the TSMC 4-nano (nm) process. It will reportedly consist of one Cortex-X4 prime core running at up to a 3.75 GHz clock, five Cortex-A720 CPU cores running at a 3.0 GHz clock, and two Cortex-A520 CPU cores running at a 2.0 GHz clock.

It is unclear whether Samsung Electronics will mount the entire Galaxy-only Snapdragon chipset in the Galaxy S24 series next year. According to the report, it is known that Samsung is developing the Exynos 2400 (tentative name) chipset with 10 CPU cores for the Galaxy S24.
