Artist Kazem Al-Saher said that the horrific scenes in Gaza were the main reason behind him releasing his new song “Hold your fire,” which supports the Palestinian people.

He added during statements to Al-Arabiya satellite channel, on Saturday evening, that he was keen when writing the song to have it reach all parts of the world, explaining that he wrote the words in Arabic and then translated them into English.

He pointed out that the United Nations nominated the poet Tom Low for him to formulate the words in a way that suits the melodies, saying that he made an effort for several days until they came out in this form.

He continued: “We recorded it with the United Nations Classical Music Association, and wonderful singers from the opera house helped us. Thank God that we succeeded in sending that message.”

Regarding his announcement of canceling the concerts that he intended to give after the events of October 7, he explained that he sat down with his manager and his son to cancel them by any means possible.

He continued: “I told them that I cannot sing on stage, so you must cancel it by any means. Frankly, the organizers were cooperating with us and we postponed it to a later date.”

He stated that performing the song “Hold your fire” made him feel like he had accomplished something for the benefit of the people of Gaza, noting that singing in English represented a great challenge for him.

He concluded: “The sentences placed on the melodies are simple and expressive and convey the message. I was keen to touch the soul of the listener and recipient, and God helped me in composing this work.”

The song “Hold your fire” was conceived and composed by artist Kazem El Saher, lyrics by Tom Law, and musical arrangement by the creative artist Michel Fadel. It was produced in cooperation with the United Nations Classical Music Society, led by Brenda Vongova.
