Kazakhstan wants to reduce the area of military training grounds leased by Russia.
Since 1995, the Russian Federation has been renting from Kazakhstan military training grounds with an area of over 8.5 million hectares for a symbolic sum of 1,050 tenge per hectare.
The area of landfills can be compared to that of countries such as Azerbaijan or the UAE. Instead, it is proposed that the freed up land be used for agricultural purposes.
