On Sunday, June 11, the national teams of Ukraine and Kazakhstan played in the final of the 2023 Sokka World Cup in Essen, Germany, a kind of mini-football. In March 2023, the Ukrainian women’s futsal team for the first time in history won silver at the European Championship.

On the way to the final, the Ukrainian team defeated Egypt (5:0), Kazakhstan (6:2) and Libya (10:2) in the group, where it took first place, after which it passed Albania (3:1) in the 1/16 finals, in the 1/8 finals – Morocco (3:1), in the quarterfinals – Brazil (1:1, on penalties – 2:0), and in the semifinals – Croatia (1:0).
The team of Kazakhstan, after coming out from third place in the group, where Ukraine also played, went through to the 1/16 finals of Moldova (3:1), to the 1/8 finals – Cyprus (2:1), in the quarterfinals – the USA (3:2) , in the semifinals – Mexico (2:2, on penalties – 5:4).
On Monday, June 12, the Ukrainian national football team will play a friendly match against Germany. As the head coach of the national team, this will be the first game of Sergei Rebrov.
