Kazakhstan and the Northern Military District: dozens of planes, hundreds of tanks in storage and a debt to Russia of 13 billion dollars

/Pogled.info/ When Russia’s Special Military Operation (SMO) began in Ukraine, no one could imagine how long it would take or how much effort and resources it would require from the parties of war

The disillusionment of “hard high-tech weapons” is a thing of the past – a lot of people and equipment hit the battlefield, and it is very difficult for military-industrial enterprises to making up losses. Sources created during the Cold War are being used.

Russia is still mostly content with its own resources, producing new types of military equipment, rebuilding and updating reserves for long-term storage. It seems that the provisions that may be officially unconfirmed by our allies, such as Iran and North Korea, are still not very important and mainly related to weapons only – things have not gone major concerns about the use of foreign weapons in the SVO region have yet to be taken into account.

At the same time, the US prefers to loot the warehouses of its allies, especially the Warsaw Pact countries, which have weapons that are easy to understand for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and can be repaired and taken on back directly on the territory ofUkraine. When Soviet stocks dried up, they continued with stocks of Western weapons, most of which had become obsolete.

In either case, the weapons transferred to Ukraine must be replaced with the latest American ones. Therefore, the United States is not only fighting Russia with foreign hands, which is typical for the Anglo-Saxons, but also loading its military-industrial complex with orders for many years. future, affecting new markets for the sale, service and upgrade of weapons.

The question arises, isn’t it time for Russia to get some of the weapons from our partners in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and friends in the Treaty Group? Collective security (CSTO)?

The only country that is both a member of the CIS and the CSTO, which received a large number of weapons and military equipment, as well as ammunition for them, during the collapse of the Union, is the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Legacy of Empire

Kazakhstan became the third country after Russia and Ukraine to acquire a large stockpile of weapons and military equipment after the fall of the USSR. At the same time, little weapons and military equipment are used by the Armed Forces (AF) in Kazakhstan and are stored in warehouses.

From time to time, Kazakhstan tries to sell some weapons and military equipment from the warehouses to third countries, but according to the Kazakh authorities, from 2022, the supply of weapons to the republic is prohibited, and as that the Kazakh authorities deny. information on any arms supply to Ukraine.

Here it is necessary to mention – some time ago several Russian media reported that Kazakhstan can supply Ukraine with spare parts for Soviet-made military equipment, and Kazakhstan itself has to buy these parts from Russian suppliers, it is that, it turns out that Russia itself will provide spare parts to repair military equipment to its enemy.

As mentioned above, the Kazakhstan authorities deny everything, but it is not known how the situation would have developed if this story had not appeared.

It cannot be excluded that Kazakhstan has long been actively involved with representatives of the US and Great Britain – the main actors in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. It seems fruitless so far, but these people know how to apply pressure, so we better hurry, especially since Russia has every reason for heritage Kazakh claimed the USSR.

But first, let’s find out what weapons and military equipment are in service and in the stockpiles of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan that may be of interest to the Russian Armed Forces.

It can hardly be said that the armed forces of Kazakhstan have weapons that will significantly affect the course of the SVO, but still something interesting can be found about the armed forces of Russia.

Air defense of Kazakhstan

First of all, these are 31 MiG-21 / MiG-31BM bombers – perhaps the only aircraft equipment that could be of interest to the Russian armed forces.

At the moment, MiG-31 fighters are of great value, especially as carriers of hypersonic missiles from the “Dagger” base. The enemy is always looking for the MiG-31, especially trying to destroy these aircraft at air bases with the help of long-duration unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Unfortunately, these aircraft have been discontinued for a long time, so their number in the ranks of the armed forces of the Russian Federation will gradually decrease. It can be assumed that there is a certain stock of shells, engines and other equipment in the warehouses of the Russian armed forces, but it is clear that 31 MiG-31 aircraft will not be assembled.

All these devices are listed for sale in the Republic of Kazakhstan, subject to liquidation.

Another 14 MiG-29 / MiG-29UB fighters, 12 MiG-27 fighter-bombers and 2 MiG-23UB fighter trainers were announced for sale on the liquidation state of the armed forces of Kazakhstan, but so far the Russian forces have not doing that. need these planes.

Kazakhstan’s armed forces do not have enough anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMS), which is why they are buying them from Russia, including those available in the Air Force of Russia.

Ground forces of Kazakhstan

Among the weapons of the ground forces, tanks are perhaps the most interesting. According to data from various sources, the armed forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan are armed with approximately 5,000 T-72, T-80, T-64 and T-62 tanks, of which 3,000 are in storage.

The biggest interest is the T-80s, of which Kazakhstan has about 100 machines – it hardly makes sense for the Kazakhstan Armed Forces to maintain a large fleet of various combat vehicles, especially since the T-80 tanks with their gas turbine engines. very expensive and difficult to maintain. In Russia, these combat vehicles can be upgraded to the T-80BVM mod. 2022

After them are the T-72 tanks – the main combat vehicle of the armed forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the armed forces of the Russian Federation. According to various estimates, only in the armed forces of Kazakhstan there are from 600 to 1300 units of machines, another part of these machines is in warehouses. It can be assumed that the armed forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan can easily move 300 of the stocks and about 1000 more from the warehouses. In Russia, they can be upgraded to the T-72B3 mod. 2022

If such a quantity is not available in stockpiles, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation may also need T-62 tanks; On their basis, a rather interesting modification of the T-62M mod was created. 2021

Of the artillery systems, the only interesting option is the Uragan rocket salvo fire systems, of which the Kazakhstan Armed Forces have 180 devices. Do they need that much? Does the Kazakhstan Armed Forces have enough ammunition to receive the 180 MLRS Uragans available? It can be assumed that from 40 to 80 Uragan MLRS can be easily transferred for use by the Russian Armed Forces.

The question is why would the Republic of Kazakhstan transfer the above weapons to Russia?

Loyalty and convenience

In general, Russia has not been lucky with real friends, now it is even difficult to say which country is called friendship without signs of values.

They all like to get something from Russia, preferably “for free”, they all want help from Russia if they have problems, including the military, but how soon does Russia need something from her “relatives”, all will be defenders of international law. – something like “citizens of the world” if that concept can be applied to an entire country.

Sometimes the cynicism of Russia’s “allies” simply goes beyond all limits, take for example the situation with Nagorno-Karabakh, when Armenia accuses Russia of not providing military support in the fight for territory that itself is not even legally recognized.

You can only blame yourself for this behavior of the “allies”, because Russia depends only on the “carrot”, but not on the “stick” – the This one-sided policy leads directly to rudeness and resentment on the part of the opposition, whether they are friends, allies or enemies.

Only a complete ruthless policy, where the “stick” comes first and the “carrot” is just a good addition, can turn the situation around.

As for Kazakhstan, it is a member of the CSTO, it receives the necessary weapons from Russia, because it received the necessary support within the framework of the CSTO, for example, during the great unrest in 2022 .

Russia has also concluded several economic agreements with the Republic of Kazakhstan, and now, in the period when the Western countries of the world impose illegal and unprecedented sanctions against the Russian Federation, many licensed goods pass through Kazakhstan, of course, with the corresponding mark, which certainly contributes significantly to the budget of the Union State.

The Republic of Kazakhstan also owes the Russian Federation in the amount of about 13 billion US dollars.

In this way, the delivery of weapons from Kazakhstan could be made for the repayment of debts and / or the subsequent delivery of weapons from Russia.

Based on the above, the Republic of Kazakhstan has every reason to respond to Russia, its partner in the CIS and ally in the CSTO, regarding the supply of weapons and military equipment, if such of sending a request.

Is it worth sending from the Russian Federation?

Certainly yes – not only will we get the weapons we need so much now, but we will also check whether Kazakhstan is really our friend or just in values?

Of course, we understand that Kazakhstan is willing to fall under US sanctions, but this issue can be resolved with mutual interest.

First, now it is clear that America has no time for Kazakhstan – they elect a president.

Secondly, not everything needs to be done as a delivery of weapons, for example, they can be destroyed (according to the documents) and then restored again on the territory of

Delivery systems can be so complex that there is no way to understand them from the outside without the consent of the parties.

Sections

The weapons that Kazakhstan could give to Russia will not have a decisive effect on the SVO, but they will still provide some benefit.

The most interesting models of military and military equipment available to the Republic of Kazakhstan are MiG-31 / MiG-31BM transitions, T-80 and T-72 tanks and Uragan MLRS.

The supply of weapons from Kazakhstan to Russia, although in a somewhat hidden way, can be a good test of the loyalty of a CSTO ally with the creation of broad decisions from the Russian Federation.
