Kazakh Yulia Putintseva advances to semi-finals of WTA 125 tournament in Bastad

Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, seeded n°2, reached the semi-finals of the WTA 125 tournament in Bastad, beating Spaniard Aliona Bolsova two sets to one (2-6, 7-6 [2]6-4), Thursday midday.

Putintseva, the 56th ranked player in the WTA, will face the winner of the match between Serbian Olga Danilovic, seeded n°8, and Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova, seeded n°9 in the semi-finals of the Swedish tournament.

The Kazakh had eliminated the Swedish wild card Lisa Zaar (6-3, 6-4), and the American Katie Volynets (6-0, 1-0 ab.), before her victory on Thursday against Bolsova, 118th in the world at the WTA.

The Spaniard had beaten the Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl, seeded n°6, in three sets (3-6, 7-5, 7-6 [4]), and had dominated the Slovenian Polona Hercog without being worried in the score (6-3, 6-3).

The other quarter-final matches in Bastad (WTA 125K Series, clay, 115,000 USD, results are displayed from newest to oldest):
